ABOUT US

Two Specialists, Every Job Done Right

Meet Geoff Roach and Steve Woods, the two partners behind every fire sprinkler system Rain City designs and installs.

THE STORY

Same Trade the Whole Way Up

Geoff Roach didn't set out to run his own company. He started as a fire sprinkler apprentice in the union, learning pipe, code, and layout from people who'd been doing it for decades. From there he made journeyman, then foreman, running commercial crews on jobs that ranged from single-family homes to warehouses pushing 100,000 square feet.

Fourteen years into the trade, he started Rain City Fire Protection to do the work differently: a direct relationship with the person doing the job, instead of a company juggling five trades and a rotating bench of technicians. Today Rain City is licensed, bonded, insured to $1,000,000, and NICET Level 3 Certified, with 95+ residential fire sprinkler systems permitted across the Puget Sound since 2023.

Rain City is now run by two partners. Geoff's partner, Steve Woods, brings 23 years of commercial fire protection experience, and Rain City now designs and installs NFPA 13 systems for commercial buildings alongside the residential work Geoff built the company on.

The motto hasn't changed since day one: do it right or do it twice.

QUESTIONS

About Geoff & Rain City

Is Geoff the one who actually shows up?+

Yes, on every residential job, from the first call to the final inspection. Commercial jobs are led by his partner, Steve Woods. Either way, you're working directly with the person doing the work, not a rotating crew.

What does NICET Level 3 Certified mean?+

NICET, the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, certifies fire protection professionals across four levels. Level 3 requires passing exams, verified field experience, and a professional recommendation, and reflects the ability to handle system design and technical oversight, not just installation.

Does Rain City subcontract the work out?+

No. Rain City is run by two partners, Geoff Roach and Steve Woods. The people who design your system are the same people installing it.

How long has Geoff been in the fire sprinkler trade?+

14 years, starting as a union apprentice and working up through journeyman and foreman before starting Rain City Fire Protection.
